The Better Business Bureau of the Southwest has been reporting on Flash Co., Inc. dba Flash Distributing for several years. The company is in the business of selling prop movie guns and accessories through the internet and magazine advertisements. But it may well be that the only thing you buy is aggravation and disappointment.
The company is located in Montrose, CO. Their website, www.flashdistributor.com, states, "All of the Guns below will shoot metal and plastic bullets or 6mm paint balls. They are available in single shot, semi-automatic, or full auto (depending on the model). They are available in regular or metal. These guns are NOT toys!! They will only be sold to adults over 18 years of age. They are for target practice only." Consumers report, however, that the merchandise is not real.
In the past, complaints revolved around the authenticity of the products ordered and paid for by consumers. Upon receiving their orders, many state that the items were nothing more than "toy guns". However, in recent months consumers claim they have ordered and paid for merchandise that they never receive. When consumers try to contact the company by email or by phone, they get no response. Likewise, the company has not responded to the BBB of the Southwest regarding complaints sent to them since April 2006.
Consumers should know that Postmaster Regulations state that pistols, revolvers, and other firearms capable of being concealed on the person are non-mailable unless mailed between licensed manufacturers of firearms, or authorized agents of the federal government or the government of a state, territory, or district, and only when addressed to an authorized person. Mailers of unloaded rifles and shotguns must comply with the Gun Control Act of 1968, Public Law 90-618, 18 USC 921, and the rules and regulations under these laws, as well as state and local laws.
